Ueterasan is a Buddhist complex that has been in the Oku area for 1250 years or so.

It’s a popular local spot for flower viewing, prayer, picnics, and overall relaxation.

Local festivals and events are held in the temple grounds throughout the year.

The treasured Yakushi-nyorai statue is only shown twice a year for visitors to see.

There are also six monk residences in the area, called “Shi-in”.

Overall Ueterasan has many things to see and experience, so try and visit it during events or particularly beautiful seasons (like cherry blossom season).
