Nobue Farmhouse and Inn
Nobue Farmhouse and Inn is a charming home in Takebe town that welcomes travelers to a unique Japanese agritourism experience. The Nobue family run the farmhouse and want to promote their small town’s agricultural traditions.
The main event of our visit to Nobue Farmhouse was pizza-making. The dough, which the Nobue family prepared, was made from a special combination of rice flour and gluten. The resulting pizza is pleasantly chewy and crispy. The toppings on the delicious pizzas are almost all grown locally (except for the cheese). Mr. Nobue built his own kiln oven several years ago in order to bake amazing pizzas, breads, and other artisan foods. Guests are welcome to cook their own pizzas in the kiln if they are interested (which I totally recommend).
There is also a craft tent where Ms. Nobue teaches guests how to make chili decorations. Though she is not fluent in English, her infectious enthusiasm and positive attitude help guests to understand what to do and make them feel welcome.
